How Propagatin' Smiles works

Every Smiley has a code that looks like SB-7K2MQ. Pick what you need, or contact us.

Log where your Smiley lives

  1. Scan the QR sticker with your phone camera. No QR code? Type the code in the box on the home page and tap Find it.
  2. Tap Use my location, or type your address in the box below it.
  3. Add your first name, a note or story, and a photo if you want. All three are optional.
  4. Tap Log my Smiley.

Moved, or gave the plant to someone new? Log it again from the new spot. Each log adds a stop to that Smiley's journey.

Pass on a baby

Cut a baby off your Smiley, set it in water until the roots are over an inch long, then plant it in soil. Give it its own code before you give it away, so it joins your Smiley's family tree. There are two ways.

Option A: make a code on your Smiley's page

  1. Open your Smiley's page (scan its sticker).
  2. Tap Create a code for my baby, then OK.
  3. A new code and QR appear. Then tap Download sticker to print it, tap Text it to them to send the link, or write the code on the pot with a marker.

Option B: use a spare Baby Smiley sticker

  1. Stick the spare Baby Smiley sticker from your Smile Box on the baby's pot.
  2. Give it away. Tell the new owner your Smiley's code, or write it on the pot too.
  3. When they scan the sticker, the page asks Was this Smiley cut from another one? They type your code there before logging.

The parent code can only be entered the first time a sticker is logged. If it gets skipped, send us a message and we can link it.

See the family: on any Smiley's page, tap See the family tree to see every baby that came from the first plant.

No sticker? Get a code online

  1. Go to the home page.
  2. Tap No sticker? Get your own code.
  3. If you know the code of the Smiley yours came from, type it in. If not, leave it blank.
  4. Tap Give me a code.
  5. Your new code shows at the top of the page. Write it on the pot, or tap Download sticker.
  6. Log where your Smiley lives.

Codes made online show on the public map once the team approves them.
